We hope that you are all keeping well during this unprecedented time.
We fully appreciate that everyone wants to start to return to some form of normality but the Government’s advice is clear on the current lockdown provisions and we must abide by these rules.
Whilst many publicly owned grounds have been encouraged to re-open, Sherborne Castle and Grounds do not fall into this category. Having taken specific advice from The Historic Houses Association and in line with all other attractions including National Trust properties, we have to remain closed until we are permitted to re-open. This is clearly our wish to do so as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we are pleased to say that, as a gesture of goodwill and to acknowledge your continued support, we will be extending the current Season Tickets to 31st March 2021.
We have seen a wonderful display of spring bulbs: The sherborne daffodil, pheasant eyed narcissus, carpets of anemones, fritillaries and now the new plantings of Tulips: Dordogne and Don Quixote. It has been a good year for Magnolias and Forsythia. With the much welcome rain the herbaceous borders are just coming into their own, Euphorbias and Alliums are going to the flowers of the Month.
We have welcomed the arrival of lots of ducklings and the Grebe is due hatch any day now.
Please follow us on Social media: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram where we have been providing virtual tours, beautiful and uplifting photos and a running commentary on the New Stars of Sherborne Castle: Rita and Robbie the Celebrity Robins!
Stay safe and well and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
